A well-trimmed hedge is the cheapest visual upgrade a commercial property has and the first thing residents and visitors notice when it slips. Holland trims and shapes hedges across body corporates, retail centres, office parks, schools and civic sites throughout Auckland. The work covers everything from low boundary hedging on car park edges, through structural Buxus and Camellia formal hedges, mid-height Griselinia and Pittosporum boundary screens, all the way up to tall Photinia, conifer and pohutukawa that need cherry picker access. Tools are matched to the hedge: hand shears on tight formal work, petrol trimmers on standard runs, hydraulic reach equipment on the tall stuff.

Frequency is the difference between a hedge that looks consistently sharp and one that swings between overgrown and shocked. We schedule trims to the species and the season, not on a generic calendar. Fast-growing hedges (Griselinia, Photinia, Pittosporum) typically need two to three trims a year in Auckland conditions, with the main shape cut after the spring flush and a tidy cut going into winter. Formal Buxus and Camellia get more frequent light trims to hold the line. Native hedging is timed around bird nesting and council protection rules where they apply. We don't hard-prune in the wrong season just because we happen to be on site that week.

Cleanup is part of the job, not an extra. Clippings are bagged or chipped on the spot and removed from the site, hard surfaces blown clean, and the work area left tidy. For body corporates and strata properties, residents tend to remember the mess after a trim more than the trim itself, so we don't leave it. On larger boundary hedges where access is from a neighbouring property, we coordinate access and notification ahead of the visit so there are no surprises on the day. Where a hedge has been let go and needs serious renovation rather than a maintenance trim, we'll quote that separately and stage the recovery cuts so the hedge actually comes back rather than getting killed.

For most commercial clients, hedge trimming sits inside a wider Holland maintenance contract, with cycles built into the annual program and invoiced at one twelfth monthly. That keeps the visits predictable and the cost predictable. For sites that just need hedge work, we run standalone trim programs with scheduled visits two or three times a year. Either way you get the same crew, the same gear and a hedge that looks the same every time we leave the site.
